First day of the Shrew Her tour 12 Februari 2019 and we are in Tilburg at the Nieuwe Vorst Theater. This is actually my first gig as a “production leader” for theater and my first international gig. I was so nervous, I have only been on board of the team for 2 weeks, and I don’t got the connects here in Holland like I do in Curaçao. Half of the things I seriously winged or didn’t even know what I was doing. But I kinda pulled it off I think. Still lots of mistakes, like a wardrobe don’t: wearing heeled booties to a full day of standing on my feet and walking to get all those last things. And we all saw this coming: I actually fell from the stairs (nobody saw me and knows this)
And if I’m being honest here I initially came to Holland for a flame and ended up not feeling it. But ended up doing this amazing gig for Ira Kip.
My plan was to come for 2 months and see how it would be to be together for a longer time. I met him In the summer, and in that same summer I volunteered at Art Rules for Ira, where I assisted in production and marketing. It was an amazing experience again because I once started as one of the students. They were really happy with my assistance and offered me to work on the Rel of Revolutie play in May 2019 also production and marketing. This wasn’t confirmed until December 2018, after I spoke this into existence. #storytime I used to assist MPOWR for a couple of months and I got close to Evita and told her about my flame and in that same sentence that I wanted to move to Holland to be with him more. I eventually told her that I might not be able to assist her anymore because I got this job offered. Which wasn’t even confirmed nor set to be in Holland. When I booked my ticket Ira was in Curaçao to do research for the play Rel of Revolutie. She then asked me to help her out with production on her play Shrew Her also since I’m going to be in Holland. This was a beyond amazing opportunity and of course I said yes. Fyi: I really believe coincidence doesn’t exist – and the law of attraction does!
Back to Shrew Her. Here I am in Holland working on this amazing play, with this super cool crew. Shrew Her sold out on 2 shows already by now. And yesterday at our first play the ticket sale was doubled from the time I checked before the play started to when the guest arrived. This is also why I freaked out during the play because I didn’t pre-cut enough cake and put out enough champagne for the wedding scene. The cast and crew was super happy that we had a try out version before the actual premiere! In 2 days this we will be at Bijlmer Parktheater and we’re going to kill it.
I learned so much yesterday and I’m already forever grateful for this opportunity.
